Depending upon the size of your order, there may be a surcharge for delivery. Should this apply, we will contact you upon receipt of your order to confirm the details. However, we try to keep this to an absolute minimum as lots of our customers are from the more remote parts of the UK.

We will give you an accurate shipping quote based on the size and weight of your order. Should you want to then place the order, we will quickly guide you through the process online.

Delivery Dates

Despatches will be sent Monday through to Thursday. We do not despatch on Fridays as we prefer not to have food in transit over a weekend.

Under normal circumstances orders received before 12pm Monday to Thursday can be delivered as soon as the next working day.

If your order contains fresh food products and we receive it after 12pm on a Thursday and at anytime on a Friday it will be sent the following Monday and arrive by Tuesday. This ensures that your fresh items are not 'in transit' over the weekend.

Fresh Food Care

Fresh perishable foods need extra care to ensure they arrive in delicious condition. Your order will be packed with ice packs and maybe placed in an insulated container for shipment.

We take great care to ensure that your goods stay well within refrigerated temperatures during transit. We ensure that each individual item that you order is carefully packed into your parcel, using bubble wrap and greaseproof paper to wrap items for extra protection where necessary. Your goods are packed with bubble pack to keep them secure, and ice packs, to keep them cool to ensure they reach you in perfect condition.

Out of Stocks

With 1000s of products in our busy shop, occasionally we may  have a low or an out of stock. If there is an item in your order that is out of stock, to avoid delaying your parcel, your order will be processed subject to your chosen substitution request.

We endeavour to keep stock of all our lines, but on occasion, we may run out. In this situation, it could take between 5-10 working days to deliver to you, but we will let you know if theres any delay when we receive your order.

If the goods are urgent, we may be able to  make a substitution to avoid any delay. However we will contact you for confirmation of the substitution before continuing with the order.

If you do not want any substitutions, or there's a product that simply must be included, please tell us. (When entering delivery address information, you can add a comment)


Delivery address

You can arrange delivery to your workplace or to a neighbour if it's more convenient. Please note it is not possible to give multiple alternatives for the delivery address. A telephone number must be provided for the delivery address.

We cannot accept responsibility for addresses provided incorrectly.

Leaving safe

It is your duty to ensure that your requested delivery date is suitable for either yourself or your gift recipient to accept an order. Ideally, the recipient should be in to receive delivery.

If you are out, at his discretion and if deemed safe to do so the courier will leave your goods with a neighbour or in a safe place and put a card through your door telling you where it is. If you have specific instructions for leaving safe, please indicate this in the 'Directions or Leave Safe instructions' box at the checkout. Please note it may not always be safe to leave goods and you are strongly advised to ensure someone is in on your agreed delivery day.


We are committed to protecting your privacy. We will only use the information that we collect about you lawfully (in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998).We store information about you for two reasons: firstly, to process your order and secondly to provide you with the best possible service. We do not hold credit card information about you ourselves. This is only received by Paypal who provide a strong commercially available level of encryption which ensures that your transactions are secure and your credit card details cannot be hijacked or redirected to anyone other than Paypal. If you do not wish to receive any emails from us in the future please click on email sign up where you have the opportunity to unsubscribe.

The type of information we will collect about you includes:

  • your name
  • address
  • telephone number
  • email address

The personal information that we hold will be held securely in accordance with our internal security policy and the law. The information you provide will only be shared with a third party for the following reasons:

  • Processing your credit card payment (Paypal)
  • Undertaking checks with credit reference agencies 
  • Assisting fraud prevention and detection agencies

In these instances, we provide them with only the information they need to perform their function. We reserve the right to change this privacy policy from time to time. Whilst we may notify you of such changes it is your responsibility to check the policy each time you use the site. Please note that information passed to a third party in accordance with this policy will be beyond our control. Any query relating to use of your information by a third party should be made directly to that party. If you have questions about your personal data or our privacy policy, please contact us at to see all the information we have about you, and to correct any inaccuracies.


Please feel free to contact us if you are unhappy with any of our goods, we pride ourselves in their quality and we are more than happy to discuss any problems with you.

The Buyer shall inspect the Goods immediately upon receipt and shall notify the Seller within seven days of delivery if the Goods are damaged or do not comply with any of the Contract.

You can return your order for any reason at any time within 14 days of receipt for a full refund or exchange providing goods are in a re-saleable condition. Postage costs are a fixed cost and cannot be refunded, unless your goods are damaged or faulty when we will refund the full cost of returning the product to us, up to a maximum amount of 4.41 GBP (for a Royal Mail standard parcel). Please contact us first before sending back faulty goods. We can then book a courier ourselves if your return is going to weigh more than 2kg. Please pack the items back in the parcel, attach a copy of the invoice and include a brief description of the reason for the return and send it back to:

When returning items we strongly recommend you obtain a free proof of posting from the Post Office, as we will not accept responsibility for parcels lost in transit.

You can then send a cheque to the address below and your order will be despatched once cleared payment has been received.

Cheques should be made out to "Loders". Please remember to write your cheque guarantee card number on the back of the cheque.

Please remember to supply a daytime telephone number when ordering so that we can contact you quickly in case of a query.

Orders That Have Alcoholic Content

Please note that under the Licensing Act 2003  it is an offence for someone under 18 to buy, or attempt to buy, intoxicating drinks, or for adults to buy or attempt to buy on their behalf. The maximum penalty is a fine of £1000. Some of the products offered for sale on this site contain intoxicating drinks. In accepting these terms and conditions, if you are purchasing products that contain intoxicating drinks, you are confirming that you are over the age of 18 and legally allowed to purchase alcoholic drinks and that they are not being sent to anyone under the age of 18.

No person under the age of 18 may place an order with "number5thedeli" if the goods contain alcohol.



Where fresh produce is required to be cut to order at the point of selection you may be offered a range of weight options to choose from. At the point of order the price shown will be the maximum based on the selected weight range. We will endeavour to ensure that what we charge you is as close to the median point within the given range as possible, however cutting fresh produce cannot ever be an exact science and many of our smaller suppliers produce varies in weight from one batch to another. You will never be charged more than the maximum price from a given range, however if your purchase is a little less, then we’ll gladly refund the difference back to your card. You will always receive an invoice telling you the exact weight and how much you’ve been charged and that way you’ll never pay more than you should.

Although we endeavour to ensure that all pricing information on the Website is accurate, occasionally an error may occur and goods may be mispriced.

If we discover a pricing error we will, at our discretion, either: contact you and ask you whether you wish to cancel your order or continue with the order at the correct price; or notify you that we have cancelled your order. We will not be obliged to supply goods at the incorrect price.

These Terms & Conditions are supplemental to any additional terms that might apply to specific transactions (such as special offers or promotions) and to the use of gift vouchers whose terms will be set out separately. Prices that are reduced for sales and promotions are only valid for the specified period. We reserve the right to adjust prices, offers, goods and specifications of goods on the Website at our discretion at any time before (but not after) we accept your order. All prices on the Number5 the Deli website are in UK Pounds Sterling and include VAT where relevant, at the current UK VAT rate.

We accept online payment in a secure environment via PayPal. We currently accept Visa, MasterCard, Delta, Switch & Maestro through Paypal who provide a strong commercially available level of encryption which ensures that your transactions are secure and your credit card details cannot be hijacked or redirected to anyone other than Paypal.

Prices are quoted in pounds sterling and include VAT at the current rate.

Any customs or import duties levied once the package reaches your destination country will be your responsibility as we have no control over these charges and cannot predict them.
